Crestview is 8-1 against Fort Walton Beach since October of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Bulldogs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Vikings at 7:00 p.m. Crestview is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games.
On Friday, Crestview really took it to Tate for the full four quarters, racking up a 38-6 win. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by 25 points or more this season.
Crestview got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Zy Tassin out in front who rushed for 73 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only ten carries, and also threw for 80 yards and one TD while completing 71.4% of his passes. Patrick Rodgers was another key player, gaining 108 total yards and a touchdown.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Crestview was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 211 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Tate only rushed for 88.
Crestview didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Tassin and Jaxson Gathings.
Meanwhile, Fort Walton Beach might've scored the first points on Friday, but it was Choctawhatchee who claimed the real prize. The Vikings were dealt a 42-3 defeat at the hands of the Indians. The Vikings haven't had much luck with the Indians recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.
Fort Walton Beach's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Crestview, their win bumped their record up to 5-3.
Friday's game might be decided in the trenches. Crestview has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 167.8 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for Fort Walton Beach, though, as they've been averaging only 85 rushing yards. How will they fare against such a dominant running game?
Crestview didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Fort Walton Beach in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, but they still walked away with a 26-21 victory. Will the Bulldogs repeat their success, or do the Vikings have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
