The Swallows Charter Academy Spartans lost against the Cotopaxi Pirates back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Swallows Charter Academy took a 58-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of Cotopaxi. Swallows Charter Academy has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Swallows Charter Academy lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Christian Garcia, who scored nine points along with 11 rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Breedlove, who scored 16 points.
Even though they lost, Swallows Charter Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Terrance Evans was his usual excellent self, shooting 4-for-10 from long range and dropping a double-double on 29 points and 11 rebounds for Cotopaxi. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Evans has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Joel Tezak, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds.
Swallows Charter Academy's loss dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Cotopaxi, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.
Swallows Charter Academy will look to defend their home court on Monday against Peyton at 7:00 p.m. Peyton presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Swallows Charter Academy in Colorado (Peyton is ranked 115th, while Swallows Charter Academy is ranked 295th). As for Cotopaxi, they will head out on the road to challenge Custer County at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Custer County will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive.
