The East Columbus Gators put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Lakewood 53-22 at home. Considering East Columbus has won four matches by more than 21 points this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Chynna Patrick was the offensive standout of the game as she dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds. She also grabbed two+ steals for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Malia J. Graham, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.
Despite the loss, Lakewood saw an underclassman step up: Kimora Corbett scored 12 points along with six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Corbett has scored all season. LaShauta Joyner was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five rebounds.
East Columbus' victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-0. As for Lakewood, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. East Columbus will be home for the holidays to greet Pender at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Pender will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 241st, while East Columbus is ranked 18th). Lakewood will be home for the holidays to greet Clinton at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Clinton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 35 last Wednesday.
