Steven Herrera and Steven Figueroa provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Chaparral. The connection was good for 74 yards, the longest such play in 5A District 3 this season.
Mayfield added to the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Eldorado, 27-19. The win marks fifth in a row for the the Trojans.
Gadsden's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Herrera threw for 156 and 3 touchdowns and Figueroa had 74 yards receiving. On the ground Ramon Martinez contributed 116 yards. Daniel Contreras helped Gadsden's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 41 yards.
He was 8-13 with 1 interception.
Herrera put up the best numbers through the air as the Panthers beat the Lobos.
Gadsden's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Panthers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Herrera has thrown for 412 yards and 5 touchdowns this season, while Martinez has 12 catches for 157 yards.
Gadsden took down Chaparral 41-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Herrera in the win.
