In what's become a running theme this season, the Wilmington Wildcats gave their fans yet another huge win on Thursday. They blew past Illinois Lutheran 55-18 at home. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory Wilmington has managed all season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Wilmington to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kyle Farrell, who scored 17 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Farrell has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucas Rink, who scored ten points along with six assists and six rebounds.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Illinois Lutheran struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Wilmington racked up 17 assists.
Wilmington's victory bumped their record up to 10-6. As for Illinois Lutheran, their loss was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-15.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wilmington won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Clifton Central at 7:00 p.m. on January 26th. As for Illinois Lutheran, they will be playing at home against Heritage Christian at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Heritage Christian presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Illinois Lutheran in their respective states (Heritage Christian is ranked 317th in Indiana, while Illinois Lutheran is ranked 727th in Illinois).
