The Tonkawa Buccaneers will head out on the road to take on the Garber Wolverines at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
On Thursday, Tonkawa came up short against Morrison and fell 6-2. The Buccaneers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Tonkawa saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cason Johnson, who scored a run while going 2-for-2. Westyn Freeman was another, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Garber, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. Everything went their way against Coyle on Thursday as Garber made off with a 6-0 victory.
Kennon Sharp was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those zero hits allowed gave him a new career-low. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Garber let Colton Steinert and Aiden Johnson run wild. Steinert scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-2, while Johnson scored a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Seth Smith, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two RBI.
Tonkawa now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Garber, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Tonkawa has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Garber struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Tonkawa took their win against Garber when the teams last played back in April of 2017 by a conclusive 16-5. Will Tonkawa repeat their success, or does Garber have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
