Basketball Recap: Faith Christian Academy Takes a Loss

If Faith Christian Academy was riding high fresh off their 74-16 takedown of Crossroads Christian Academy on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Angels fell 63-59 to the Appling Christian Academy Eagles on Thursday.

Despite the defeat, Faith Christian Academy saw an underclassman step up: freshman Kylar Simpson dropped a double-double with 27 points and 15 boards. Those 27 points set a new season-high mark for Simpson. The team also got some help courtesy of Asher Hearne, who almost dropped a double-double with 11 points and nine rebounds.

Jaden Drake was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 31 points and ten boards for Appling Christian Academy. That's the most points Drake has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Xzayvier Anderson, who put up 11 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.

Faith Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Appling Christian Academy, the win got them back to even at 4-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Faith Christian Academy will face off against St Johns Christian School at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Appling Christian Academy, they will square off against First Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles will be up against the Lions' rather soft defense (which has allowed 50.2 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
