The Wilkes Central Eagles lost against the Hibriten Panthers back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Wilkes Central was beaten by Hibriten 65-25. While losing is never fun, Wilkes Central can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 450th, while Hibriten is ranked 103rd).
Defeat or not, Wilkes Central got some senior leadership from Anna Rollins who scored 13 points along with 5 rebounds and Chloe Lyon who scored 8 points. The match was Rollins' fourth in a row with at least ten points.
This is the second loss in a row for Wilkes Central and nudges their season record down to 1-3. As for Hibriten, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.
Wilkes Central will head out on the road to face off against West Iredell at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. West Iredell comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Hibriten, they will be playing at home against Newton-Conover at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Newton-Conover is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
