The Avon Orioles and the Brownsburg Bulldogs squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but sadly the Avon Orioles had to settle for second. They took a serious blow against the Bulldogs, falling 74-42. Avon's loss continues an unfortunate trend for the team, making it seven in a row.
Despite the defeat, Avon had strong showings from Makaylee Butts, who scored 13 points along with two steals, and Aniah Smith, who scored 14 points along with three steals. Smith has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 13 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Erika Larson, who scored three points along with four blocks.
Avon has traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last 11 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-15 record this season. As for Brownsburg, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 13-11.
Avon does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Brownsburg's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Quakers at 7:30 p.m. on February 2nd. Hopefully Plainfield focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 last Friday.
