Nantahala is 0-10 against Hiwassee Dam since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Nantahala Hawks will be playing at home against the Hiwassee Dam Eagles at 6:00 p.m. Nantahala will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 581st, while Hiwassee Dam is ranked 196th).
Nantahala came into Tuesday's game having lost 12 straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They walked away with a 41-29 victory over Blue Ridge Early College on Tuesday. The victory was just what Nantahala needed coming off of a 53-18 loss in their prior matchup.
Meanwhile, after a string of seven wins, Hiwassee Dam's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They took a serious blow against Cherokee, falling 98-32. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Hiwassee Dam has scored all season.
Nantahala's victory ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-13. As for Hiwassee Dam, their loss ended a eight-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-4.
Nantahala was dealt a bruising 68-27 defeat at the hands of Hiwassee Dam when the teams last played last Tuesday. The matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Nantahala was down 47-13.
