Pine Belt had won two straight games and Samuel Smith did his part to make it three on Saturday. The Spartans blew past the SAHE Warriors 28-6 with plenty of help from Smith, who rushed for 176 yards and four scores. His rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 129 rushing yards.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Pine Belt's defense and their four sacks. That dominant display was truly a team effort as four different players picked up one apiece. Joseph McCardle was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making 15 total tackles.
Pine Belt now has a winning record of 3-2. As for SAHE, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.
Coincidentally, Pine Belt and SAHE will both be playing Varsity Opponent the next time they take the field. The Spartans will host Varsity Opponent at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, while the Warriors will host them at 7:00 p.m. on the 20th.
