The Springstead Eagles will face off against the Cypress Creek Coyotes at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Springstead's hitters haven't had much luck over their past five games, but Friday's matchup will give them a chance to turn things around.
Springstead fell victim to Sunlake and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Seahawks.
Springstead saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jacob Giannie, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base. Justin Tino also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, Cypress Creek made easy work of Central on Thursday and carried off a 14-1 win. With that victory, the Coyotes brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.
Parker Burrmann looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three).
At the plate, TJ Beatty was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Michel Latuff was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
Cypress Creek kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Cypress Creek has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Springstead, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-11.
Springstead came up short against Cypress Creek in their previous matchup back in April of 2021, falling 11-7. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
