Frankenmuth is 10-0 against Bridgeport since February of 2020, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Frankenmuth Eagles will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bridgeport Bearcats at 5:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Frankenmuth has nine straight victories, Bridgeport has eight straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
In what's become a running theme this season, Frankenmuth gave their fans yet another huge victory on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Birch Run 71-18 on the road. Given Frankenmuth's advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 16th, while Birch Run is ranked 539th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Mia McLaughlin continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 9 for 15 from beyond the arc en route to 33 points and 2 assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Alyson Peterson, who scored nine points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Bridgeport came up short against Glenn on Tuesday and fell 61-49.
Frankenmuth pushed their record up to 12-2 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.5 points per game. As for Bridgeport, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-11.
Everything came up roses for Frankenmuth against Bridgeport when the teams last played back in January as the team secured a 68-18 win. Does Frankenmuth have another victory up their sleeve, or will Bridgeport turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
