Santa Rita has enjoyed a four-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Morenci Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Santa Rita comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 24 points in their last four games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
Santa Rita suffered their biggest defeat since December 1, 2023 on Tuesday. They had to suffer through a rough 62-24 loss at the hands of Benson. Santa Rita was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-12.
Meanwhile, Morenci earned a 60-47 win over Willcox on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Morenci.
Santa Rita's loss was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-14. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 23.4 points per game. As for Morenci, they now have a winning record of 10-9.
Santa Rita took a serious blow against Morenci in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 57-23. Can Santa Rita avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
