Troy and Kendrick are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2021, but likely not for long. The Trojans will challenge the Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
Troy's last matchup with Potlatch could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's match on Tuesday. The Trojans lost 10-2 to the Loggers. The Trojans' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.
Makhi Durrett made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole three bases while going 3-for-3.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Kendrick, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over Genesee on Tuesday. Considering the Tigers have won eight contests by more than eight runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Morgan Boyer was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
In other batting news, Hudson Kirkland was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Kasch Littlefield also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Kendrick's win was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.9 runs over those games. As for Troy, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 5-3.
Thursday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Troy has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .472. However, it's not like Kendrick struggles in that department as they've averaged .486. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Troy came out on top in a nail-biter against Kendrick in their previous meeting on Monday, sneaking past 4-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Trojans since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
