The Rodriguez Mustangs will head out to challenge the American Canyon Wolves at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Rodriguez is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.
While Rodriguez's victory against Vintage wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Mustangs had just enough and edged out the Crushers 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Mustangs have posted since April 25, 2025.

Angel Boot spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up 12 Ks. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 6 strikeouts per game.
On the hitting side, Rodriguez saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ellie Steiger, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. That stolen base was Steiger's first of the season.
Meanwhile, in Tuesday's Canine Competition, American Canyon prevailed. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-6 victory over Vacaville on Tuesday.
Kate Sosa made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off 12 hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2025.
In other batting news, Deja Montgomery was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with four stolen bases and one run. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March of 2025. Ianna Lobao was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
American Canyon hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Vacaville struck out seven times.
American Canyon now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Rodriguez, their record now sits at 4-2.
Thursday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Rodriguez has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .441. However, it's not like American Canyon struggles in that department as they've averaged .457. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Rodriguez got the 'W' when the teams last played back in March of 2025 against American Canyon by a conclusive 8-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
