A pair of state record holders added to their career totals with big performances this week as both Rathen Ricedorff of Show Low (Ariz.) and Justin Worley of Northwestern (Rock Hill, S.C.) threw for close to 500 yards.
Ricedorff, who recently set the state record for career touchdowns, had the nation's best performance of the week, as reported to MaxPreps. The senior completed 23 of 30 passes for 508 yards and six touchdowns in a 68-48 win over Winslow.
Worley, meanwhile, kept Northwestern undefeated on the season with a 45-14 playoff win over James Island. He completed 33 of 47 passes for 471 yards and five touchdowns. Worley holds the career record for passing yardage and touchdowns in South Carolina.
Luis Soto of Saddleback (Santa Ana, Calif.) nearly set a national record for carries in a game as he ran the ball 71 times for 484 yards in a loss to Laguna Beach. Soto's total number of carries was originally reported in the Orange County Register as 67, however Saddleback coaches have reported the higher total to MaxPreps. The 71 carries is one off the national record of 72.
