The Page Pirates suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Friday. They were dealt a 76-44 loss at the hands of Northern Guilford. Page has not had much luck with Northern Guilford recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Defeat or not, Page got some senior leadership from Hattie Sloyan and Sutton Sherrill. Sloyan scored 20 points along with two steals, while Sherrill. dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds. Sherrill continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.
Northern Guilford found their leader in underclassman Leena McField, who scored 38 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points McField has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jasmine Harris, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds.
Page has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season. As for Northern Guilford, they pushed their record up to 15-1 with that win, which was their 18th straight on the road.
Page will face off against Southeast Guilford at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Southeast Guilford will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak. As for Northern Guilford, they will be playing at home against Grimsley at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Grimsley will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 288th, while Northern Guilford is ranked 12th).
