Baseball Recap: Kearney Takes a Loss

Kearney fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Millard South on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Patriots by a score of 2-1. The loss continues a trend for the Bearcats in their meetings with the Patriots: they've now lost five in a row.

Owen Waha was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Griffin Novacek was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run.

Kearney now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Millard South, their victory bumped their record up to 8-1.

Looking ahead, Kearney is taking a road trip to square off against Millard North at 2:30 p.m. on Monday. The Mustangs will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something the Bearcats surely won't give up without a fight. As for Millard South, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Elkhorn North at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
