The Johnson Ferry Christian Academy Saints will square off against the Covenant Christian Academy Rams at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
Johnson Ferry Christian Academy fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Harvester Christian Academy last Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Hawks by a score of 8-7. The Saints have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Johnson Ferry Christian Academy saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mason West, who scored a run while going 1-for-4. Another was Zachary Grayson, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last contest, Covenant Christian Academy made sure to put some runs up on the board against Unity Christian on Friday. The Rams blew past the Lions 15-1. The result was nothing new for the Rams, who have now won seven matches by six runs or more so far this season.
Garrison Barton made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.
In other batting news, Bo Reid was a standout: he scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. Ryan Kennedy was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
Covenant Christian Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Unity Christian only managed four hits.
Covenant Christian Academy's win bumped their record up to 8-3. As for Johnson Ferry Christian Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 3-10.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Johnson Ferry Christian Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Covenant Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
