Baseball Recap: Park City Picks Up Seventh Straight Win at Home

Park City won against Cottonwood last Wednesday with 12 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Miners' pitcher stepped up to hand the Colts a 12-0 shutout. Considering the Miners have won seven matchups by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Joey Breza was a standout: he scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2024. Wesley Dewitt was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Park City's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-3. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.9 runs over those games. As for Cottonwood, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-6 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Park City will challenge Hillcrest at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Miners are facing the Huskies at the right time seeing as the Huskies are stuck on an 11-game losing streak. As for Cottonwood, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Juan Diego Catholic at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The last three games the Soaring Eagle have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
