4A Region II District 15 recap Oct. 16, 2012
Mansfield Summit was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from ninth to fifth in 4A Region II District 15. Earlier in the week, the Jaguars triumphed over Lake Ridge 64-0.
Ennis extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Red Oak, 28-27. The victory was the seventh in a row for the team.
Austin VanHove and Cameron Bausley gave the Hawks a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. VanHove threw for 161 yards and three touchdowns, while Bausley ran for 163 yards. Teammate Jeremiah Gaines added to the ground attack by rushing for 25 yards.
Patrick Tshituka was the best wideout in the league this week as Mansfield Summit topped Lake Ridge. Tshituka racked up two receptions for 108 yards.
Antonio Bennett provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Jaguars bested Kirk Thor's team. He completed six passes for 218 yards and one touchdown and also ran for two yards.
6-foot-2 quarterback Brady Burke of Mansfield Legacy is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1220. He has also thrown 11 touchdowns. On the ground, Red Oak's Bausley has rushed for 733 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Tshituka. The Mansfield Summit star has 25 catches for 539 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Broncos take on Ennis. At the moment, Mansfield Legacy is in seventh, while Jack Alvarez's team is in second.
Mike Shields' team moved up to 300 from 392 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Hawks climbed the ranks as a result of falling to the Lions 28-27.
