Lewiston is 1-9 against Diller-Odell since December of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Lewiston Tigers will be home for the holidays to greet the Diller-Odell Griffin. Lewiston comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 22 points in their last five games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
On Tuesday, Lewiston took a serious blow against Sacred Heart, falling 51-12. Lewiston was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 29-3.
Despite the loss, Lewiston saw an underclassman step up: Justice Currie scored 12 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Currie has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played.
Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Diller-Odell's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They were beaten by Johnson-Brock 58-27. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Diller-Odell has scored all season.
Diller-Odell's loss came about despite a quality game from Myleigh Weers, who scored 15 points. Weers scored a full 55.6% of Diller-Odell's points, the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Lewiston's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Diller-Odell, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-1.
Friday's contest is shaping up to be a scrappy contest: Lewiston have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 15.8 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Diller-Odell struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 26 rebounds per game. Given Lewiston's sizeable advantage in that area, Diller-Odell will need to find a way to close that gap.
Lewiston was able to grind out a solid victory over Diller-Odell in their previous matchup back in January, winning 51-43. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Diller-Odell's Karli Heidemann, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds. Now that she won't be playing on Friday, will it be that much easier for Lewiston to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
