Hagerty has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. The Hagerty Huskies and the Ocoee Knights will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Hagerty focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Friday.
Hagerty pushed their score all the way to 56, but even that wasn't enough to win. They suffered a tough 79-56 loss at the hands of Oviedo. While losing is never fun, Hagerty can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 127th, while Oviedo is ranked 32nd).
The losing side was boosted by Caden Douglass, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last seven times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Dipaolo, who scored nine points along with two blocks.
Meanwhile, Ocoee beat Dr. Phillips 64-54 on Friday. The win made it back-to-back wins for Ocoee.
Hagerty's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-4. As for Ocoee, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season.
Hagerty strolled past Ocoee in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 by a score of 60-41. Will Hagerty repeat their success, or does Ocoee have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
