Fairbury is 0-9 against Crete since December of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Fairbury Jeffs are on the road again and play against the Crete Cardinals at 7:45 p.m. on December 15th. Hopefully Fairbury focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, Fairbury was the victim of a rough 41-18 defeat at the hands of Centennial. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Fairbury has scored all season.
They got a good chunk of their points from the dynamic duo of
Jakolbe Atkins and
Korey Nippert, who each put up four points. Nippert also led the team in rebounds with four.
Blake Starr took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with three assists.
Meanwhile, Crete put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They put the hurt on Northwest with a sharp 63-42 win. Fans of Crete have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season ended as a blowout.
Fairbury's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Crete, their victory bumped their record up to 4-0.
Fairbury came up short against Crete in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, falling 61-50. Thankfully for Fairbury, Jabin Gardiner (who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
