With a playoff win on the line, North Shore rose to the challenge on Friday. They breezed past the Deer Park Deer to the tune of 49-14. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won seven contests by 28 points or more so far this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead North Shore to victory, but perhaps none more so than Dorian Barnes, who picked up 175 receiving yards and a pair of scores. Hezekiah Johnson handled things on the ground, rushing for 95 yards and two rushing touchdowns.
North Shore was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 237 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Deer Park only rushed for 128.
Despite the loss, Deer Park still got an impressive performance from Trace Yates, who rushed for 109 yards and one touchdown on only 11 carries. Yates' rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 101 rushing yards.
North Shore's win bumped their record up to 9-2. As for Deer Park, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-5.
Coming up, North Shore will face off against Ridge Point at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Mustangs 15, the Panthers 10.3) so any points scored will be well earned. Deer Park does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
