After a string of three wins, the Forestview Jaguars's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They lost to Crest on the road by a decisive 63-48 margin. Forestview has not had much luck with Crest recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Several Jaguars players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tralyn Phillips, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Phillips is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Miangel Thompson, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds.
Even though they lost, Forestview were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Crest only pulled down 25 offensive rebounds.
Crest can attribute much of their success to Monica Surratt, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kari Lee, who scored six points along with six steals and five rebounds.
Forestview's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-2. As for Crest, their win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-0.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Forestview will be home for the holidays to greet South Point at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Crest will be home for the holidays to greet Huss at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
