After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Leading Edge Academy - GEC, the Florence Gophers were happy to have found some success on Saturday. They enjoyed a cozy 50-34 win over Benjamin Franklin. For Florence, this counts as revenge for the 52-39 defeat Benjamin Franklin walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January.
Florence got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Devin Cundiff out in front who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Cundiff continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Adrian Taufaasau, who scored 18 points.
Florence has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season. As for Benjamin Franklin, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-9.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Florence will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Coolidge at 7:00 p.m. on January 9, 2024. As for Benjamin Franklin, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Globe at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Globe comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
