Baseball Recap: Mendon Has No Trouble Against East

Mendon lost to East back in April of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Saturday. The Vikings were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Eagles. Considering the Vikings have won four matches by more than seven runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Ethan Postle looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Colden Forney was a standout: he got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Albanese, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Mendon was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The win made it two in a row for Mendon and bumps their season record up to 6-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5 runs in those games. As for East, their defeat ended a 12-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 5-2.

Mendon and East should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps New York Rankings. The Vikings (ranked 82nd) will meet Irondequoit (ranked 266th) at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, East will take on Northstar Christian Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Monday with a big rank advantage (215 vs. 494).
