Two dominant backs in Derrick jerome Butler and Ezavier Crowell are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Davidson Warriors will be playing at home against the Jackson Aggies at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Davidson sitting on three straight victories and Jackson on eight.
Last Thursday, Davidson strolled past Bryant with points to spare, taking the game 34-19.
Butler continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 327 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 12.1 yards per carry. Terrance Gray was another key contributor, rushing for 142 yards while picking up 7.1 yards per carry.
Meanwhile, Jackson stacked a eighth blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They took their game on the road with ease, bagging a 45-0 win over Wilcox Central. Given Jackson's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama football rankings (they are ranked 23rd, while Wilcox Central is ranked 328th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jackson found their leader in underclassman Crowell, who rushed for 108 yards and a touchdown, and also caught a touchdown. Crowell was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 60 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Landon Duckworth, who threw for 100 yards and two touchdowns on only nine passes.
Davidson now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Jackson, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 8-0.
We should be in store for an exciting game Thursday as the two teams have no problem gaining yardage. Davidson has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 410.8 total yards per game. However, it's not like Jackson struggles in that department as they've been averaging 396.6 per game. With a pair of commanding offenses duking it out, the defenses are going to have their work cut out for them.
Davidson was taken down by Jackson 44-14 when the teams last played back in October of 2022. Will Davidson have more luck at home instead of on the road?
