After flying high against the Deer Trail Eagles back in December of 2023, the Flagler Panthers came back down to earth. Flagler suffered a rough 59-34 defeat at the hands of Limon on Friday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Flagler in their matchups with Limon: they've now lost five in a row.
Despite the loss, Flagler had strong showings from Jaylie Stone, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds, and Sydnie Berry, who scored nine points along with four steals.
Jentri Marx continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Limon, dropping a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. Marx hasn't dropped below two steals for seven straight games. Katelyn Tacha was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with seven assists and three steals.
Flagler's defeat dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Limon, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-2.
Flagler will be playing in front of their home fans against Arickaree at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Arickaree's defense has only allowed 29 points per game this season, so Flagler's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Limon, they will head out on the road to challenge Elbert at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Elbert will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 234th, while Limon is ranked 79th).
