The D.H. Conley Vikings's game last Tuesday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They came out on top against Havelock by a score of 50-42. D.H. Conley pushed the score to 48-27 by the end of the third, a deficit the Rams cut but never quite recovered from.
D.H. Conley was led to victory by Ella Pierre-Louis and Aubrey Mayberry. Pierre-Louis scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and two steals, while Mayberry dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Mayberry has scored all season. Moira Skalak was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Havelock lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Caidance Hemry, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and two blocks. Hemry is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three games straight. Another player making a difference was Nevaeh George, who scored 12 points.
D.H. Conley has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. As for Havelock, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-9.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. D.H. Conley will face off against the Knights at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Northern Nash will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 377th, while the Vikings are ranked 132nd). As for Havelock, they will head out on the road to take on the Bears at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
