The Orestimba Warriors and the Hughson Huskies will face off at 7:00 p.m. on December 18th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Orestimba has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Orestimba scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They took down Los Banos 72-53. Given Orestimba's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 425th, while Los Banos is ranked 909th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Orestimba to victory, but perhaps none more so than Angel Reynoso, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Reynoso has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Caleb Marin dominguez was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds.
Hughson has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 20 points or more this season. They claimed a resounding 76-25 win over Galt on the road. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 43-9.
Orestimba's win bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Hughson, their win bumped their record up to 7-4.
Orestimba beat Hughson 76-64 in their previous matchup back in December of 2022. The rematch might be a little tougher for Orestimba since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
