Tokay hasn't had much luck against Manteca recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Tokay Tigers will be playing at home against the Manteca Buffaloes at 5:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Tokay is headed into the match having just posted their biggest victory since February 23, 2024 on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Galt as Tokay made off with a 17-3 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Tigers.
Brooklyn Jeremic-Schaede 2027 and Emma Misasi 2025 did most of the damage at the plate: Jeremic-Schaede 2027 scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Misasi 2025 scored two runs while going 2-for-4. What's more, Jeremic-Schaede 2027 posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Sammy Cabrerra 2028 was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
Tokay always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Galt only posted an OBP of .364.
Meanwhile, Manteca got themselves on the board against Kimball on Thursday, but Kimball never followed suit. They had just enough and edged out the Jaguars 2-0. The Buffaloes haven't had any issues with the Jaguars recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Kimball's batters probably weren't too happy with Isabel Tonna, who pitched a no hitter and racked up eight Ks (she gave up two walks). Tonna has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Ayva Wilkins was excellent, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2.
Tokay now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Manteca, they now also have a winning record of 2-1.
Tokay's speedy runners might be the difference in Wednesday's contest. Tokay has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.7 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Manteca, though, as they've been averaging only 1.3 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Tokay continue to outrun the ball?
Tokay came up short against Manteca in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, falling 4-1. Will Tokay have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
