The Hueytown Golden Gophers had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.8 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They claimed a resounding 75-31 victory over Brookwood at home. That looming 75-31 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Hueytown yet this season.
Hueytown was led to victory by Tyler Agee and Braylon Patton. Agee scored 17 points, while Patton scored 19 points. That makes it ten consecutive games in which Patton has scored at least 25% of Hueytown's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Derryck Patton, who scored ten points.
Kaleb Wise and Caden Channell certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Wise scored seven points, while Channell scored five points.
Hueytown's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-6. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.8 points per game. As for Brookwood, their loss dropped their record down to 2-11.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hueytown will play host again and welcome Gardendale, where tip off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Gardendale has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 202 points over their last three games. Brookwood will be home for the holidays to greet Tuscaloosa Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Tuscaloosa Academy presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Brookwood in Alabama (Tuscaloosa Academy is ranked 164th, while Brookwood is ranked 350th).
