It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Spanish Fork had no problem doing just that on Monday. They never let the Payson Lions get on the board and left with a 5-0 win. The victory was nothing new for the Dons as they're now sitting on ten straight.
Payson's batters probably weren't too happy with Matai Johnson, who pitched a no hitter and racked up seven Ks (he gave up a single walk). Johnson has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Trigg Cloward, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Cody McLean was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one triple and one run.
Spanish Fork's win bumped their record up to 25-3. As for Payson, their defeat dropped their record down to 18-12.
As of now, neither Spanish Fork nor the Lions have any future games scheduled.
