Tanner Vibabul continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 183 yards and five touchdowns, while also rushing for 121 yards and a pair of TDs on only eight carries. That's the most rushing yards he has posted since back in August. Rasheed Coleman helped out on the ground, rushing for 90 yards and a rushing touchdown.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Las Vegas was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 265 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mojave only rushed for 88.
Meanwhile, Faith Lutheran faced Desert Oasis in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Crusaders took their game with ease, bagging a 35-8 victory over the Diamondbacks. The Crusaders pushed the score to 35-0 by the end of the third, a deficit the Diamondbacks cut but never quite recovered from.
Las Vegas better keep an eye on Justin Robbins. He was instrumental in Faith Lutheran's win, rushing for 101 yards and three scores. Isaac Tanpoco also deserves some recognition as he rushed for his first rushing yard of the season.
Faith Lutheran's defense made their presence known, laying out VIncent Hales ten times. The heavy lifting was done by Cooper Offermann and Connor Gries, who racked up five sacks between them. Offermann is becoming a predictor of Faith Lutheran's success: when he posts at least one sack the team is 2-1 (and 2-6 when he doesn't).
Faith Lutheran is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 4-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 13.0 points on average over those games. As for Las Vegas, their record is now 10-1.
Las Vegas took a serious blow against Faith Lutheran in their previous meeting back in October of 2023, falling 44-6. Thankfully for the Wildcats, Garyt Odom (who rushed for 103 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also threw for 29 yards and one TD) won't be suiting up this time.
