He is becoming a predictor of Pleasant Valley's success: when he posts at least 100 rushing yards the team is undefeated (and 0-3 when he doesn't). Another rusher making a difference was Jay Mojica, who rushed for 62 yards and one score on only eight carries.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Pleasant Valley proved: they limited Red Bluff to a paltry two yards per carry. The team can thank Owen Lee for the heroic effort on defense: he. Pleasant Valley didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 9.2.
Pleasant Valley's defense didn't let Ashden Wehbey, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Lee, Tylend Broadway, and Charles Fox, who each picked up one sack apiece.
Meanwhile, Chico strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They breezed past Enterprise to the tune of 52-7. Considering the Panthers have won four games by more than 19 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Pleasant Valley better keep an eye on Shamar Riley. He was instrumental in Chico's win, rushing for 79 yards and one TD, while also picking up 49 receiving yards and one touchdown. Riley was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 51 yards. Brave Curcio was another key player, rushing for 48 yards and a pair of scores.
Chico didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Emilio Vierra.
The victory got Pleasant Valley back to even at 3-3. As for Chico, their win bumped their record up to 6-0.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Pleasant Valley has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 186.5 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Chico struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 276.3 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Pleasant Valley beat Chico 20-7 in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. Will the Vikings repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
