Park City always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .526. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Cottonwood came up short against Viewmont on Saturday and fell 5-2.
Cottonwood also got a good showing from Quinn Mendenhall, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Mendenhall has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Diego Martinez was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was his first of the season.
Park City's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-3. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Cottonwood, their loss dropped their record down to 9-3.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Park City hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .349. However, it's not like Cottonwood struggles in that department as they've averaged .346. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Park City's way against Cottonwood in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Park City made off with a 13-3 victory. Will the Miners repeat their success, or do the Colts have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
