The East Feliciana Tigers will face off against the Ferriday Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
East Feliciana is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They blew past Delcambre 44-6. The win was familiar territory for the Tigers, who have now won three games in a row.
East Feliciana can attribute much of their success to Markus Cannon Jr, who threw for 170 yards and three TDs on only 16 passes.
East Feliciana didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Makyle Cannon. Ryan Moore was another major factor on D, picking up a sack, forcing one fumble, and making ten total tackles (3.0 for loss).
Meanwhile, Ferriday never let their opponents score on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Northeast 58-0. Given the Trojans' advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana football rankings (they are ranked 110th, while the Vikings are ranked 248th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.
Ferriday's win came from a few key players East Feliciana will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Zylon Alexander, who rushed for 73 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only five carries, and also caught one score. Desmen Jefferson was another key player, picking up 108 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.
Ferriday's defense made their presence known, laying out the QB four times. That dominant display was truly a team effort as four different players picked up one apiece. They got some further help from Marvin Davis: he made 14 total tackles (3.0 for loss).
East Feliciana's victory bumped their record up to 9-3. As for Ferriday, their win bumped their record up to 8-3.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. East Feliciana has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 179.6 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Ferriday struggles in that department as they've been averaging 183.5 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
