The Great Valley Patriots are taking a road trip to take on the Downingtown East Cougars at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. Downingtown East took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Great Valley, who comes in off a win.
Great Valley is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Kennett with a sharp 14-7 victory on Thursday. The Patriots not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since March 14th (when they won 11-1).

Great Valley got a massive performance out of Mia Carr, who fired off two home runs and three runs while going 4-for-4. Carr has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Anna Billman, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Great Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.4 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 11.6.
Meanwhile, Downingtown East fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Downingtown West on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Whippets by a score of 4-3. The Cougars' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.
Sam Wendig spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on 14 hits and racked up six Ks.
On the hitting side, Downingtown East saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Georgia Mahon, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. That stolen base was Mahon's first of the season.
Great Valley's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-8. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Downingtown East, their loss dropped their record down to 9-6.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Monday. Great Valley hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.6 home runs per game. However, it's not like Downingtown East struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Great Valley suffered a grim 11-3 defeat to Downingtown East in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Patriots avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
