Vacaville Christian will square off against Millennium at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Vacaville Christian is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.3 runs per game this season.
Vacaville Christian is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Dixon just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of the Rams by a score of 5-4.
Dylan Eddings put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
In other batting news, Vacaville Christian got a big performance out of Jack Kimball, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that Kimball has hit this season. Zachary Romeo was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, it's playoff time, and Millennium had no trouble coming through when it counted. They blew past Foresthill 10-3 on Wednesday. The win was some much needed relief for the Falcons as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Like Vacaville Christian, Millennium also got a great game from a two-way player: Dylan Gray. He pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Gray was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Millennium: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 5-13 otherwise.
In other batting news, Millennium let Ares Araujo and Edward Moschetti run wild. Araujo went 2-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and one triple, while Moschetti got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. Moschetti is becoming a predictor of Millennium's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 5-13 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Emiliano Hernandez, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases.
Millennium's victory bumped their record up to 8-13. As for Vacaville Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-4.
