Oak Hall is a perfect 4-0 against Hawthorne since February of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Oak Hall Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Hawthorne Hornets at 7:00 p.m. Oak Hall is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.
Oak Hall took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They came out on top against Seven Rivers Christian by a score of 8-3.
Brayden Farmer was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits (and only one walk). He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Oak Hall is 2-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 1-2 otherwise. Farmer was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Lincoln Jones was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two). Brody Beaupre was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hawthorne). Everything went their way against Peniel Baptist Academy on Thursday as Hawthorne made off with a 15-2 victory. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Hornets considering their two-run performance the match before.
Like Oak Hall, Hawthorne also got a great game from a two-way player: Tison Thomas. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over four innings pitched. Thomas has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 4-for-4. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season.
In other batting news, Hawthorne got a massive performance out of Connor Flinchum, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in five of his six plate appearances. Flinchum also put up an RBI, which was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Hunter Thomas, who went 3-for-5 with four RBI and one run.
Hawthorne always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .612. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
The win got Oak Hall back to even at 3-3. As for Hawthorne, their victory bumped their record up to 3-5.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Oak Hall has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Hawthorne struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Everything went Oak Hall's way against Hawthorne in their previous meeting back in April of 2021, as Oak Hall made off with a 10-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Oak Hall since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
