Peaking at the right time, and having a lot of fun, Nation Ford avenged a mid-season loss to Wando with a 25-11, 25-15, 25-16 triumph in the
SCHSL Class 5A state championship contest. The win allowed the 46-7-1 Falcons to claim their second state volleyball title and earn the No. 42 ranking out of more than 20,000 volleyball teams in
MaxPreps' National Rankings!
MaxPreps and the South Carolina Army National Guard were on hand to celebrate Falcon volleyball in between the boys and girls varsity basketball games against Clover, a Falcon sweep. MaxPreps representative Kayla Ellenwood kicked off the celebration by summarizing and applauding another outstanding Falcon volleyball season that resulted in Nation Ford earning the top ranking in all of
South Carolina.
Staff Sergeant Jerry Ferrell of the South Carolina Army National Guard was on hand to present head coach Carrie Christian and the Falcons with the prestigious Army National Guard national ranking trophy, which will be handed out to just 10 volleyball programs nationally this year.
SSG Ferrell congratulated Nation Ford and Christian on a job well done before presenting them with commemorative Tour of Champions t-shirts, a nationally ranked rafter banner and the prestigious trophy, commemorating their state championship. As the presentation was coming to a close, the Lady Falcons received their state championship rings and Junior Sophie Fischer was awarded the Gatorade South Carolina Volleyball Player of the Year.
