The Holy Family Tigers put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They claimed a resounding 66-27 win over Lutheran at home. The result was nothing new for Holy Family, who have now won five matches by 31 points or more so far this season.
Holy Family's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Gracie Ward led the charge by scoring 20 points along with four steals. That's the first time this season that Ward scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexcia Oaxaca, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds.
Holy Family's win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-0. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.8 points per game. As for Lutheran, they have fallen quite a ways from their 23-4 record last season and are now at 3-6.
Holy Family will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Silver Creek at 5:30 p.m. on January 8, 2024. Lutheran will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on University at 7:00 p.m. on January 4, 2024. University presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Lutheran in Colorado (University is ranked ninth, while Lutheran is ranked 116th).
