Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Bo Earl and Ryan Oakey Lead Union to Victory

Union extended their winning streak to three on Tuesday, bumping them up to 3-0. They took down the North Summit Braves 72-58. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Cougars also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2018.

Leading Union to victory were Ryan Oakey and Bo Earl. Oakey went 8-for-17 en route to 21 points along with six boards and four steals, while Earl shot 62% from the field to rack up 23 points. Those four steals gave Oakey a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brennen Mecham, who posted five points in addition to eight rebounds and five assists.

Union was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North Summit only racked up six.

Having lost for the first time this season, North Summit fell to 2-1. The loss put an end to their undefeated start to the season.

North Summit's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tayton Pace, who had 20 points and five boards. Luke Brown was another key player, going 5-for-10 on his way to 11 points and seven rebounds.

Union wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 75-56 defeat against Northridge on the 4th. As for North Summit, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 71-63 win against Juab on the 2nd.
