The biggest upset of the week belonged to Seneca, who took down 47th ranked Seneca, 34-26.
Cassville extended the longest winning streak in Big 8 this week by beating Aurora, 43-7. This was the team's eighth consecutive win.
Carl Junction's dynamic duo of Dustin Satterlee and Matt Magee proved tough for Mt. Vernon to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Satterlee threw for 147 yards and two touchdowns and Magee had 103 yards receiving. J Thomas helped Carl Junction's passing attack out by catching three balls for 31 yards.
Chris Whelan made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Bulldogs beat the Mountaineers. The junior grabbed two sacks.
Shane Williams was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 24 carries, he ran for 180 yards as Mt. Vernon bested Mt. Vernon. Jacob Lasalle also contributed to the rushing game with 38 yards on the ground.
Jesse Wall's team's Satterlee and Magee have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Satterlee has thrown for 1378 yards this season, while Magee has 37 catches for 505 yards. Ozzie Riley's team's Williams leads the league in rushing yards with 1166.
Two of the top units in Big 8 will face off this week when the Mountaineers take on Cassville. Mt. Vernon's offense has scored 199 points this season, good for No. 1 in the league, while David Large's team has allowed only 72 on the year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Mountaineers take on the Wildcats. Mt. Vernon is currently in third, while Cassville is in first.
The Bulldogs and the Mountaineers played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with the Bulldogs eventually emerging with a 21-17 victory. Satterlee ran for 49 yards in the win.
