Football Recap: London Takes Down Rio Hondo in a Playoff Battle

It's playoff time, and London had no trouble coming through when it counted. They walked away with a 49-42 win over the Rio Hondo Bobcats on Friday. The Pirates' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Alex Manning was his usual excellent self, throwing for 393 yards and four TDs while picking up 14.6 yards per attempt, and also picking up 63 receiving yards and one touchdown. What's more, he racked up 140 passer rating, the most he's had since back in September. Zach Tyrone was another key player, picking up 157 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Several Bobcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Matthew Lopez, who threw for 301 yards and four touchdowns, and also rushed for 80 yards and one TD on only 11 carries. Another player making a difference was Mario Lopez, who gained 189 total yards and two touchdowns.

London is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 35.0 points over those games. As for Rio Hondo, their record now sits at 9-2.

London wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 53-12 loss against Llano on the 21st. Rio Hondo does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
