Colonia (N.J.) beat Bishop Ahr (Edison, N.J.) 44-7 after a strong game from
Sam Pero, who rushed for four touchdowns. Thanks to the stand out performance the junior now has 15 touchdowns on the season.
After taking the lead on a Pero touchdown run in the first quarter, the Patriots were up 36-7 at the half.
Colonia grew its lead to 37 points entering the fourth quarter. CHS scored two times in the third, including once on a touchdown run by Pero.
Pero and
Tenny Adewusi ran for a bunch of touchdowns for the Trojans.
Bishop Ahr's only touchdown came on a 16-yard run by David Holder in the first quarter.
The Patriots went into the matchup giving up only 17.9 points per game. Bishop Ahr's seven points were right around its season average of 5.9 per game. BA came in allowing just 14.5 points per game this season. The Edison school had a hard time against Colonia's offense, which entered the game scoring 25.9 points per game.
Last season's game between the teams resulted in a 27-0 win for CHS.
The loss comes after Bishop Ahr defeated Woodbridge 26-16 last week. The victory was a step in the right direction for the Patriots, who were coming off a 34-14 defeat at the hands of Carteret in its previous game. The victory snapped Colonia's two-game losing streak.
