They managed a 54-50 win over Villa Park. Given Canyon's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 38th, while Villa Park is ranked 208th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Canyon's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Josh Goodall led the charge by scoring 20 points along with six rebounds. Goodall hasn't dropped below 15points for three straight games. Staf Yilmazturk was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with two blocks.
Canyon is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season. As for Villa Park, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-11.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Canyon will take on Yorba Linda at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Villa Park, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Foothill at 7:00 p.m. Foothill is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.
